Uses Of A Cellphone Pouch
It’s common today for people of any age to have a pouch for their mobile phone. It has a number of benefits that make it very handy. Here are some reasons why you should invest in a good cellphone pouch.
- It protects your phone. A pouch protects your phone from scratches and helps prevent it from wearing out quickly. If you drop your phone accidentally, the pouch can also cushion the fall.
- Carrying your phone becomes easier. Stuffing your phone in your tight jeans pocket crushes it, eventually leading to damage.
- It’s stylish. Cellphone pouches come in different shapes and styles, depending on your personal preference. It’s one of the most fashionable accessories used today,
There are various cellphone pouches sold in the market, but if you’re an artsy person, perhaps you’re more interested in making your own kind. Not to worry, here are a couple of ways to do it.
Cellphone Pouch Made From Fabric
What You’ll Need:
- Fabric (any color or pattern of your choice)
- Tailor’s chalk
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- A thin satin ribbon (at least ¼ inch or less)
- Velcro
- Beads for decoration
- Cellphone
Procedure:
- Create the pouch pattern. You’ll need to make this with the help of your cellphone’s measurement. Put your phone on the fabric, then measure the width and length of the phone. Tracing the phone with tailor’s chalk is also a great idea, and you won’t have to worry because it will wash away later.
- After outlining the cellphone, use a ruler to make a rectangle 1inch wider and 3 inches longer than the cellphone length. For example, for a cellphone that’s 2 1/2 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches long, the rectangle must be 11 ½ inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide.
- Cut the rectangular pattern out with neat and even cuts. Make sure the edges aren’t jagged.
- You need to sew the pouch. Evenly fold over the cloth, so you have 3 inches of extra cloth at its top. By now, you’ll see the pouch shaping out. Use zigzag stitches and sew the pouch sides, but make sure you don’t sew the part where there’s two cloth pieces to sew together. If you’re not familiar with a sewing machine, ask for help.
- Flip the fabric pouch, putting the seams inside, giving you a neat outer skin. You now have a pouch with a flap to hold it inside.
- Make a necklace, using the thin ribbon. Cut it long enough so it will be looped over your head. Thread this thin ribbon through your yarn needle, and push it through the pouch’s top, just below where your seam ends. Make a knot at one end of the ribbon, so it won’t be pulled out of the pouch.
- String the beads through the ribbon before you secure the other end in the other side of the pouch. Knot it off when you’re done.
- Attach a Velcro piece to each side of the pouch, so when you press it over the pouch’s top, it will be closed and secure.

Cellphone Pouch Made From Felt
What You’ll Need:
- Felt
- Cellphone
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Crochet Hook
- Shank Button
Procedure:
- Get a piece of felt, then fold it in half. Use a cellphone as your guide on how big a fold you need to make.
- Use scissors to cut a yard-long piece of yarn. Thread this through the eye of the needle, then sew overlapping stitches going down one side, then across the bottom, then up to the other side. This attaches the two pieces of felt together. Make sure the stitches are tight and secure. Before you tie the yarn off, get the button and stitch it to one of the pouch’s top corners. Once done, tie the two ends of the yarn.
- Use a yarn to crochet 30 stitches of chain (Learn how to crochet). It depends on the tightness of the stitches and the needle size. When you reach the chain’s end, leave the crochet hook in the last loop, then count 6 to 7 stitches back, attaching the end of the chain here, with the help of a slip stitch. This forms a loop. Adjust the loop’s size depending on your button’s size.
- Fix the non-looped end to the pouch’s corner where you sewed the button, then thread the yarn tail on the needle then stitch the chain on your pouch.
